Vincent Lucas is currently Principal Flute of the Orchestre de Paris.
At the age of 17, he became the first French winner of the international competition Concertino Praga (Prague) and at only 14 years old, he was selected to study at the Paris Conservatoire, having placed first at the competitive entrance auditions. He was one of the youngest flutists ever to have achieved this feat.
After five years with the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Vincent joined the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, and played with them for six years.
As well as his career as an orchestral musician, Vincent’s teaching activities have led him to giving numerous masterclasses both in France and abroad (Germany, UK, Denmark, Serbia, Italy, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, USA, Colombia, Spain, Russia and Canada).
Since 1995, he has been the Assistant Professor at the Paris Conservatoire and he was appointed as the Senior Professor at the CRR de Paris in 1999.
Held in high esteem by his peers, Vincent is highly sort-after as a chamber musician, working with colleagues including Christoph Eschenbach, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Christian Ivaldi, Eric Le Sage, Paul Meyer, Michel Beroff, Brigitte Engerer, Xavier Philipps, Svtelin Roussev, Wolfram Christ, Vincent Pasquier and Baborák Radek. He also plays regularly with the Wind Quintet of the Orchestre de Paris, a quintet comprising fellow woodwind Principals from the orchestra.
Vincent is renowned as an orchestral musician and is often asked to play as a soloist with orchestras in France and internationally. He also plays as part of the Alma Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Lionel Bringuier or with the Orchestre d’Auvergne.
Vincent has recorded a few CD at Indésens Records dedicated to Dutilleux, Saint Saëns, Poulenc, Françaix, Gaubert and Debussy. His latest record in the series features the composer Beffa (to be released soon). He has also recorded a disk of French flute and piano music as well as Alone, a disk of solo flute pieces.
